Favignana is one of The Aegadian Islands, just 4km off the coast of Sicily. The island is a haven for divers and beach lovers alike, with quiet enclosed beaches and deep lagoons.
Ferries from Favignana sail to the other Aegadian Islands of Marettimo and Levanzo, and to the port of Trapani in Sicily. You can book Siremar ferries with AFerry.
The landscape of Favignana is often compared to that of a butterfly. Two flat stretches of land lie as wings on either side of a high rocky spine, which is topped by a decaying fortress. Ferries arrive at Favignana town, the one densely populated area on the island. The town is situated on the eastern side of the island, which is connected to the western side by a road-tunnel through the rocky spine which divides the two plains.
Absorb the atmosphere of the island and take a stroll around the town, you will find many interesting shops for tourists, including fishmongers selling fish freshly caught that day. Favignana has a rich heritage in tuna-fishing and you will see this in the market stalls.
If you need to relax and soak in the sun, there are plenty of small beaches for you to choose from. Lido Burrone is a wide sandy beach accompanied by a bar and a restaurant making it a great spot if you are visiting with children. Sunbeds and parasols are available to rent.
If you are after something a little different, one of the best bathing spots is Cala Rossa, a bay enclosed in a rocky coastline. This can be difficult to reach so may not be suitable if you are visiting with children, but it is worth it once you reach the beach.
Ferries to and from Favignana
With Siremar, you will find comfortable seating offering panoramic views through the large windows. Ferries between the Aegadian Islands and Sicily are fastcraft hydrofoils and can reach speeds of up to 40 knots. These routes are for foot passengers only.
Ustica Lines runs a fleet of 25 high-speed vessels, each ship equipped with air-conditioned rooms, TV, music, reclining seats and an onboard bar serving refreshments and snacks. The fastest ships can reach speeds of 36 knots.
Favignana port facilities
As the port is in such close proximity to the town, you will find many amenities to make yourself comfortable before you depart, or just after you arrive at Favignana.
